Kenyan rapper Octopizzo just dropped his latest song NIKUPATE, which might not have gone well with some upcoming rappers in the country. A number of artistes and record labels have sued the rapper for copyright claims over a certain instrumental used in his latest single. The instrumental is owed is a downloaded free YouTube beat from a popular music producer called ALEXAYBEATS.
A popular Eldoret rapper was quoted saying that the namba nane rapper stole the beat from one of his songs. He however lamented that the instrumental was created by him, but as it emerged, twitter DCI found out that the instrumental belonged to none of them since they could not claim the originality of the producer who made it.
So far, the song has garnered (state views). Octopizzo has not yet come out to speak on the matter. After all, many of mainstream artistes download instrumentals from the internet, something that is very wanting and could be of concern given the fact that we have so many music producers in Kenya who can do a better job than their counterparts.
And in the latest twist, Nadia Mukami’s collaboration with Khaligraph Jones and Fena Gitu has just been pulled down off YouTube.
